What is Evekeo?

Evekeo is a neurostimulant therapy that can treat ADHD, narcolepsy, and can be used as a short-term obesity treatment. Neurostimulants containing amphetamine like Evekeo work by targeting abnormal networks in the brain to reduce symptoms aggression, impulsivity, irritability, absent-mindedness, and drowsiness. Evekeo combines two molecules, and is the only ADHD medicine that contains half dextroamphetamine and half levoamphetamine to help minimize symptoms when used as directed.

How do I take Evekeo?

Your doctor should determine the recommended dose of Evekeo. Depending on your clinical profile, your doctor may prescribe this medication at a low dosage once a day with or without food, or twice a day if ADHD symptoms don’t improve. This medication should only be taken as directed by your doctor to avoid serious adverse effects. 

Before taking Evekeo, tell your doctor if:

  • If you have a history of heart problems
  • If you have high blood pressure
  • You are pregnant or plan to become pregnant
  • You are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed
  • You have a history of substance abuse
  • You are taking antidepressant medications 

What are the possible side effects of taking Evekeo?

Some of the most common side effects patients experience while taking Evekeo medicine include: headache, stomach ache, trouble sleeping, decreased appetite, unpleasant taste in mouth, nervousness, dizziness, sexual problems, itching, diarrhea, weight loss, dry mouth, and mood swings. Other serious side effects include slow growth in children, seizures, and eyesight changes. 

What if I forget to take a dose of Evekeo?

Patients who forget to take a dose of Evekeo should skip it, and take the next scheduled dose. It is important to never take more Evekeo than prescribed as it may cause serious adverse reactions. 

How do I store Evekeo?

Store Evekeo in a room with a temperature between 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity away from light. Do not expose tablets to extreme heat or cold as it may change the chemical composition of Evekeo.

What happens if I overdose on Evekeo?

Symptoms of an Evekeo overdose include: tremors, fast uncontrollable respiration, confusion, hallucinations, and panic attacks. If you experience any of these symptoms, call local emergency services at 911 or Poison Control at 1 (800) 222-1222. 

Warnings

Evekeo contains amphetamines that are highly addictive, so it is advised that Patients with a history of drug abuse should not take this treatment. Report any unexplainable wounds on fingers or toes while taking Evekeo. Do not take Evekeo if you have hypertension or heart disease as it may cause sudden death.
