What is Adcirca?
Adcirca is the drug tadalifil, a phosphodiesterase inhibitors prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction and the symptoms of BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia). It is also prescribed to those with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in order to improve their ability to exercise. It works by relaxing blood vessels in order to increase blood flow.
How do I take Adcirca?
Adcirca is administered in tablet form and is taken orally with water. The frequency of dosage will depend on the condition being treated; follow the prescribed dosing instructions exactly. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. This medication will not cure your condition; continue to take it even if you are feeling well.
Before taking Adcirca, tell your doctor if:
- You are allergic to tadalifil, any of the ingredients in the Adcirca drug, or you are taking Cialis
- You are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are nursing a child

- You are taking verapamil, amiodarone, telithromycin, aprepitant, sertraline, bosentan, rifampin, carbamazepine, rifabutin, clarithromycin, phenytoin, diltiazem, phenobarbital, efavirenz, nevirapine, erythromycin, or nefazodone
- You are taking, or have recently taken, riociguat, or any drugs or medications containing nitrates
- You smoke or you have ever had an erection that lasted more than 4 hours
- You have, or have recently had, angina, PVOD, any condition that affects penile shape, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, tachycardia, stroke, arrhythmia, a heart attack, heart failure, stomach ulcers, circulation problems or bleeding disorders, or blood cell disorders
- You have, or have had, leukemia, multiple myeloma, or liver, heart, or kidney disease
- You have, have had, or there is a family history of, eye disease, sudden severe vision or hearing loss, or a blockage of blood flow to optic nerves
- You have not been drinking enough fluids, have been dehydrated, have been vomiting, or have diarrhea
- You have been advised to avoid sexual activity
What are the possible side effects of taking Adcirca?
Some people have reported side effects after taking Adcirca. Mild symptoms include coughing, diarrhea, flushing, headaches, indigestion, nausea, heartburn, or pain in the stomach, back, muscles, arms, or legs. If any of these conditions persist or worsen, contact your healthcare provider.
Severe side effects requiring immediate medical attention include signs of an allergic reaction (rash, hives, itching, peeling or blistered skin; swelling of the face, mouth, lips, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing or swallowing), a sudden decrease or loss of vision, blurred vision, changes in color perception, chest pain, dizziness, priapism, tinnitus, or a sudden decrease or loss of hearing.
What if I forget to take a dose of Adcirca?
If you are on a regular dosing schedule and you forget to take your scheduled dose of Adcirca, do so as soon as your remember and are able. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the one missed and resume the regular schedule. Do not increase dosage or change the regimen to make up for one that was missed.
How do I store Adcirca?
Keep Adcirca sealed in its original packaging, out of the reach of the reach of children and away from extremes of temperature and humidity. Dispose of any unused or expired tablets according to the instructions of your pharmacist.
What happens if I overdose on Adcirca?
If an overdose of Adcirca is suspected, contact the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. If the individual has stopped breathing or lost consciousness, contact Emergency Services at 911.

Adcirca may cause a sudden decrease or a loss of hearing in one or both ears. Drinking alcohol may exacerbate the side effects of this drug.
