Bevespi Aerosphere Information:
The drug Bevespi Aerosphere uses the combined actions of formoterol and glycopyrrolate to aid in proper breathing for patients who suffer from COPD. Formoterol is a bronchodilator that reduces the swelling that occurs with respiratory inflammation, and glycopyrrolate is an anticholinergic that controls involuntary movement in the lungs. Together, they prevent airflow obstruction and bronchospasm. This drug, however, is not to be used for treating asthma.
Most COPD sufferers take the drug Bevespi Aerosphere by inhalation twice per day, two inhalations each time. Be sure to follow all instructions given to you by your doctor, and shake the medicine well before each use.
Before taking Bevespi Aerosphere, tell your doctor if:
- You have heart disease
- You have liver disease
- You have high blood pressure
- You have diabetes
- You have glaucoma
- You have a thyroid disorder
- You have epilepsy or other seizure disorder
- You have bladder obstruction or other urination problems
- You have an enlarged prostate
- You have any food or drug allergies
The common side effects of Bevespi Aerosphere are not severe and may include cough or urination problems. However, you should seek immediate medical attention if you notice severe side effects such as wheezing, choking, new or worsening breathing problems, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, painful or difficult urination, pain or burning when urinating, tremors or feeling nervous, blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, halos around lights, high blood sugar, or low potassium.
Skip the dose that you missed and wait until your next scheduled dose is due. Don't take an extra dose to make up for the dose you missed.
Keep the drug Bevespi Aerosphere at room temperature and do not allow it near moisture or heat. Keep the inhaler covered when it is not in use, and do not allow the canister near open flame or high heat, even in situations such as in a car on a hot day. The canister can explode if it overheats, is punctured, or is burned.
If you or someone in your home overdoses, you may notice some of the symptoms listed as severe in the Side Effects section. Get to an emergency room or call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
Warnings
This medicine is not intended for use as an asthma treatment and may increase the risk of death in people with asthma. If this medicine enters your eyes, rinse them with water and contact your doctor for additional help.
Brand Names
The generic combination of formoterol and glycopyrrolate is sold only under the brand name Bevespi Aerosphere. There are other available COPD treatments available that use different drugs.
