What is Methoxsalen?
Methoxsalen comes as a 10 mg hard gelatin capsule to be taken orally. It is a generic prescription drug that is used along with ultraviolet (UV) radiation to treat skin conditions such as vitiligo, severe psoriasis, eczema, and certain skin issues associated with a certain type of lymphoma.
Methoxsalen hard-gelatin capsules are classified as a psoralen, and this drug works by making the skin more sensitive to UV light. Doing so results in damage to the skin cell when exposed to UV light treatment, and the damaged skin cells grow slower as a result, also causing the rate of skin tissue growth to slow down.
How do I use Methoxsalen?
Dosing of Methoxsalen varies depending on the weight of the patient and the condition being treated. Consult with your doctor for specific dosage and use instructions for this drug for the treatment of your condition.
Before using Methoxsalen, tell your doctor if:
- you are allergic to Methoxsalen or to any other medications
- you are taking any other medications, vitamins, or herbal or nutritional supplements

What if I forget to use a dose of Methoxsalen?

How do I store Methoxsalen?
Store this medication tightly closed when not in use. Store it at room temperature and keep away from excess moisture and heat. Keep this medication out of reach of children and away from pets. Properly dispose of any expired or unnecessary medication.
What happens if I overdose on Methoxsalen?
In case of overdose, call Poison Control (1-800-222-1222) to find out what to do, or seek immediate medical attention.
