What is Prodrin?
The medicine Prodrin is a balanced mix of acetaminophen, isometheptene, and caffeine. The drugs work together to numb dull, aching pains and narrow blood vessels in the head and brain. The drug Prodrin is one of few medications targeted for relief of tension and vascular headaches, and has shown efficacy as a treatment for some migraine headaches.
How do I take Prodrin?
Take Prodrin with or without food. To treat migraines, take Prodrin at the first sign of even a mild headache. If the initial dose does not relieve the pain, follow your doctor’s instructions for additional doses. Wait at least 60 minutes between doses. Take no more than 5 capsules within a 24-hour period. For tension headaches, limit capsule or tablet intake to 8 within a 24-hour period.
Before taking Prodrin, tell your doctor if:
You are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or nursing
You are taking any prescription or nonprescription medications, herbal preparations, or dietary supplements
You have allergies to medicine, food, or other substances
You consume 3 or more alcoholic beverages per day
You have liver, kidney, or cardiovascular problems
You have recently had a heart attack
You have anxiety

What are the possible side effects of taking Prodrin?
The most common side effect of Prodrin use is temporary dizziness. Seek medical help immediately if you feel any severe side effects such as allergic reaction, dark urine, pale stools, right-sided abdominal pain, abdominal tenderness, unusual fatigue, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.
What if I forget to take a dose of Prodrin?
Take your missed dose as soon as you remember. Follow your doctor’s instructions if you feel you need additional doses. Do not take Prodrin more often than directed. Never take 2 doses at once.
How do I store Prodrin?
Store Prodrin with medicine at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15 and 30 degrees Celsius). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep Prodrin out of the reach of children and pets. Do not store in the bathroom.
What happens if I overdose on Prodrin?
Overdosing on medicines like Prodrin may cause excessive sweating, extreme fatigue, irregular heartbeat, vomiting, bloody vomit, dark urine, nausea, and stomach pain. Contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 or get to an emergency room as soon as possible.
Warnings
Prodrin may cause dizziness that can be worsened with consumption of alcohol or certain medicines. Use Prodrin with caution. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you are aware of how the medicine affects you. Prodrin contains acetaminophen, which should not be taken in large doses. If you are using other medications with acetaminophen, talk to your doctor about how to prevent overdose.
